Tips for making smoked honey baked ham:

1. Remove ham from wrapping and pat dry.
2. Score ham crosswise about 1 inch deep so the glaze can penetrate the meat.
3. Generously coat ham with butter.
4. Stud the entire ham with whole cloves, about 1 inch apart.
5. If needed, warm glaze to a consistency that it will easily spoon, drizzle, and baste.
6. Bake ham on the grill on a foiled baking sheet.
7. Let ham rest for 20 minutes after cooking.
8. Slice ham down the score lines so that it will fall apart into slices.
